PTI is optimistic about the release of Imran Khan this month

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Latif Khosa told PTI members that the release of jailed party founder Imran Khan is imminent, he may be released from jail this month.

Speaking on Geo News program ‘Naya Pakistan’ on Sunday, he said, I am sure that the PTI founder will be released this April.

Recently several party leaders including PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan have made a similar claim saying that the founder of the jailed party will be released from jail very soon.

Responding to claims that the PTI founder’s release would be part of any deal, Kohsa said it would be absurd to call the release the result of any deal.

He said that the former prime minister does not believe in the politics of revenge and he only wants the supremacy of the constitution in the country.

Speaking about the cases against the PTI founder, Khosa termed Khan’s conviction in the cipher and un-Islamic nikah cases as an injustice.

Earlier this month, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the 14-year sentence of Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana reference and ordered an appeal against the conviction to be heard after the Eid holidays.

Imran Khan is in jail. Other cases against him include criminal charges including violations of the Official Secrets Act, terrorism, corruption and other violations.

Imran Khan was ousted in April 2022. Then Imran Khan and PTI leaders complained that the army had ousted them with the intervention of the US. Later in August 2023, Imran Khan was arrested in the Toshakhana case. Later he was also accused in the Cypher and Iddat cases. Imran Khan was sentenced to prison in these cases.
