The ambassador invited the DU Vice-Chancellor, who did not get a visa, to visit Canada

The High Commissioner said that friendly relations between Bangladesh and Canada have been existing for a long time.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Akhtaruzzaman was invited to visit Canada by Canada’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Lily Nicholas. He extended this invitation during a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor on Tuesday (October 3).

The High Commissioner said that friendly relations between Bangladesh and Canada have been existing for a long time. The ongoing education, research, cultural and development activities between the two countries will be further strengthened in the future.

At this time, the High Commissioner invited the Vice-Chancellor to visit Canada with the aim of strengthening joint education and research programs between Dhaka University and various Canadian universities.

After the meeting with the High Commissioner, an agreement was signed between Canada’s Regina University and Dhaka University to start joint education and research programs. Professor Akhtaruzzaman and Rizaina University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Jeff Cashen signed the MoU on behalf of his respective university.

Deans of various faculties of Dhaka University, some officials of Canada Embassy in Dhaka and members of Regina University delegation were present at the signing ceremony. The Vice-Chancellor expressed interest in signing MoUs with other universities in Canada to conduct joint education, research and cultural activities.

It should be noted that DU Vice-Chancellor Akhtaruzzaman was invited to the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) Council Conference held in Canada. So he applied for a visa on June 15 to participate in the event. But after a month after applying for a Canadian visa, he had to cancel his trip to Canada after he did not get the visa.
