A 28-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday morning in Montreal’s Little Italy neighborhood.
Police were called to the scene at the corner of Bellechasse and Saint-Denis Streets around 12:15 am after receiving reports of gunshots. Officers found the victim on the ground with gunshot wounds to his upper body and attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the victim was targeted in a drive-by shooting by one or more suspects who fled the scene in a vehicle.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are analyzing the scene, speaking to witnesses, and reviewing nearby surveillance footage.
This is the sixth homicide in Montreal this year, compared to only one at this point in 2023.
