The ISC stated, “The department takes allegations and complaints regarding the misuse of public funds very seriously.”

Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) will launch a forensic audit into the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN), an organization representing 74 Saskatchewan First Nations. The audit follows allegations of financial mismanagement within the FSIN.

The ISC stated, “The department takes allegations and complaints regarding the misuse of public funds very seriously.” They are currently reviewing the allegations but are not releasing details due to privacy concerns.

Patty Hajdu, Indigenous Services Minister, declined to comment on whether there is evidence of wrongdoing, stating the audit process will need to unfold.

The FSIN, led by Bobby Cameron, advocates for its member First Nations on issues relating to education and child welfare. The FSIN has not yet responded to requests for comment.
