These statistics indicate that the death rate is very worrying compared to the infected.

The organization said that the situation of breast cancer is worsening due to lack of awareness about cancer among the common people, shyness of women, late visit to the doctor etc.

According to the organization, overall cancer diagnosis and treatment system in Bangladesh is inadequate. There is no national strategy, action plan and program for breast cancer prevention, early detection and cancer screening.

Bangladesh Breast Cancer Awareness Forum will observe ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Day’ across the country on Tuesday (October 10) like every year to prevent breast cancer. The organization has been celebrating the day since 2013. Various programs have been undertaken with special emphasis on breast cancer risk and protection, early cancer diagnosis and screening. This year the theme of the day is ‘Screening saves lives’.

The program includes a discussion meeting at the new auditorium of IEDCR (adjacent to the old Health Directorate) at 9:30 am in the capital and the inauguration of the ‘Golapi Road Procession’ at 11 am in the direction of 6 districts of Greater Mymensingh.

Forum founder and chief coordinator Professor Dr. A team of 15 members under the leadership of Habibullah Talukdar will leave tomorrow in a bus dressed in pink for 4 consecutive days in 6 districts and about 10 upazilas, road meetings, processions and leaflet distribution. Apart from doctors, the team will include cancer survivors, organizers, cultural figures and journalists.

Prof. Shubhagat Chowdhury, Dr. Halida Hanum Akhtar, former health secretary AFM Sarwar Kamal, musician Samina Chowdhury, public health expert Dr. Mushtaq Hossain, Professor Dr. Be-Nazir Ahmed, Dr. Abu Jamil Faisal and officials of the Department of Health and Health Education will participate.

Apart from this, the forum will give a token of appreciation to 10 journalists for playing a special role in breast cancer awareness.

Itinerary of the procession- On Tuesday, October 10th, it will depart from Dhaka to Bhairab, Kuliarchar, Katiyadi upazila headquarters and district headquarters of Kishoreganj, on October 11th, Nandail, Ishwarganj upazila via Netrakona, on October 12th, via Tarakanda, Phulpur and Nakla upazilas to Sherpur, on Friday, October 13th, Jamalpur city, Sarishabari upazila. , Tangail District.
