The construction work of Bangabazar Nagar wholesale market has started.

The construction work of Bangabazar Nagar wholesale market has started. Dhaka South City Corporation said that it will take time till December 2026 to complete the construction of this 10-storey commercial building.

This work started with a special prayer on Tuesday (June 4). During this time, there were business leaders including Supervising Engineer Tawheed Siraj, Assistant Engineer Golam Kibria of Corporation’s Market Construction Cell.

In this context, the chief executive officer of the corporation. Mizanur Rahman said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made a comprehensive inquiry of the affected businessmen after the fire and has supported them. Also, he gave necessary directions so that the affected businessmen can resume their business there quickly and he laid the foundation stone of Bangabazar Nagar Wholesale Market construction by being present in person. So we also had a sincere effort to start the construction work there as soon as possible. This activity is a reflection of that. We are hopeful that we will be able to complete this project within the stipulated time.

Incidentally, on May 25, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated ‘Bangbazar Nagar Wholesale Market’ in Bangbazar, eight rows of ‘Bir Muktijodha Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Sarani (Inner Circular Ring Road)’ from Postgola Bridge to Rayerbazar Sluicegate Gate, ‘Najrul Sarobar’ in Dhanmondi Lake and Shah Bagh. Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy laid the foundation stone of four development projects titled ‘Shishu Udyan’.

Dhaka South City Corporation spokesperson Abu Nacher said that the construction of Nazrul Sarobar started on May 26. On the other hand, on June 3, the site of the Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy Shishu Udyan modernization project was explained to the contractor. The construction of the eight-lane Bir Muktijodha Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Sarani (Inner Circular Ring Road) from Postgola Bridge to Rayerbazar Sluicegate Gate will also start soon.
