The girl who reads books

Ankona has been a brilliant and talented girl since childhood. Her love for reading and her deep passion for books always caught everyone’s attention. Every time she turned a page of a new book, it was as if she had stepped into a new world. Her family, including her mother, father, brother, and sister, were her constant companions. They all loved her and encouraged her reading habit. Ankona’s mother always said, ‘Reading is not just about knowing, it’s also about feeling. Every story in a book hides various aspects of life.’

When you entered Ankona’s room, it felt like a small library. When she read, all her senses seemed to come alive. The touch of the book’s cover, the smell of the pages, the magic of every word she read, everything combined to make her feel like she was in a new world. Seeing Ankona’s reading habit, her mother would say, ‘When you read, it seems like you’re in another world.’

Ankona’s mother always told her, ‘Reading is not just about knowing, it’s also about feeling. Every story in a book hides various aspects of life.’ Ankona’s father would add, ‘When you read, you not only gain knowledge, but you also enrich your mind and emotions.

One day, a competition named “The Joy of Reading” was organized at Angkon’s school. To participate in the competition, students had to write an essay on their favorite book and present it. Angkon was very excited and started writing about his favorite book, “Mahashweta Devi’s Collected Stories.” In his story, he mentioned how Mahashweta Devi’s stories highlighted the plight of the marginalized people in society. He wrote, “In Mahashweta Devi’s writing, we can feel the pain and struggle of the marginalized people in society. Her stories have taught me to think in new ways.”

On the day of the presentation, Angkon shared his story. He said, “Through reading, I not only gain knowledge but also get a new perspective. I learn how to understand the feelings of others, how to empathize with their pain.” His essay impressed everyone, and he won the first prize.

During the award ceremony, the drawing teacher said, “Drawing has taught us that reading books means not only acquiring knowledge but also developing the ability to understand others’ feelings.” Seeing this success of Drawing, her parents were overjoyed. Her father said, “We knew Drawing loved to read books, but today we saw how her reading habit is helping her become a good person.”

By reading books, we can understand the world around us better. Books bring creativity, compassion, and knowledge to our minds. Just as Drawing has taught us through her story, the joy of reading brings new light to our lives. “Reading is not just a means of acquiring knowledge, it also enhances our feelings and thinking.
