The bird that exists in stories but not in reality, because…

The bird’s name is ‘Homa’. Some people call it ‘Racing Homa’. There are countless tales about this bird across the world. Many believe the Homa bird possesses a unique characteristic:

It flies high into the sky with its egg, then drops the egg from a great height. Before it hits the ground, the egg cracks open, and the baby bird emerges. This tiny fledgling then flies back to its mother. The shell of the Homa bird’s egg is said to increase soil fertility.

Another story about this bird is that, like the phoenix, it burns to ashes after several hundred years. From these ashes, a new Homa bird is born. It is considered a bird of fortune. Whoever kills this bird is said to die within forty days.

Although such tales about the Homa bird are prevalent in India, no one has ever claimed to have seen one.

Indian ornithologist Kanad Vaidya believes, ‘This bird is a mythological creature. The descriptions of this bird do not align with reality. However, there are many real birds that do not build nests and lay their eggs on the seashore or on the ground.
