Asim Jamil, son of Maulana Tariq Jamil, Pakistan’s popular cleric and Islamic commentator, died after being shot. Maulana Tariq Jamil himself confirmed the death of his son on social media.
According to Geo News report, Asim Jamil died in Khanewal district of Punjab on Sunday (October 29). However, the details of how he was shot are not known. He is believed to have committed suicide.
In a post on social media X (formerly Twitter), Maulana Tariq Jameel wrote,
My son passed away in Talamba (Khanewal, Punjab). In this sad situation, I request you to pray for my son, may Allah grant him Jannah.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Chowdhury of Multan, Pakistan said that Maulana Asim Jamil died after being shot in the chest.
Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar has directed the Multan police to determine the cause of death in the light of the forensic report.
