Khalilur Rahman, Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Canada, has been relieved of his duties

High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Canada. Md. Khalilur Rahman has been released and ordered to join the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka. Dr. Md. Khalilur Rahman is returning to Dhaka from Ottawa. This information is known from the sources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Before this, from October 31 last year Dr. Md. Ministry of Public Administration has issued a notification appointing Khalilur Rahman on the same post for six months. Khalilur Rahman has worked in various departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and Permanent Mission of Bangladesh in Geneva.

It is to be noted that the government has decided to call 10 ambassadors who are about to expire this year to Dhaka. Among the 10 ambassadors, professional diplomats. Both Monirul Islam (Italy) and Asud Ahmed (Greece) will be on post-retirement leave (PRL) in April. Apart from this, Khalilur Rahman (Canada) and Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan (Germany) among the contractually appointed ambassadors will expire in April, Mohammad Sufiyur Rahman (Switzerland) and Major General Md. Ashikuzzaman (Kuwait) will expire in May, Sultana Laila Hossain (Poland) and Mohammad Abdul Hai (Thailand) will expire in June and Shahabuddin Ahmad (Japan) will expire in July. Fazlul Bari (Iraq) will expire in September. It is said that 9 of them have already been informed about their return.

An official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, as per the process, instructions are sent to the ambassadors to join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately. But the practice is — they report a day or two before the expiry date. However, it does not affect the administrative work.
