In this situation, a report of ‘The Financial Times’ says that Jaishankar had a closed-door meeting with Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolly during this US visit.

Meanwhile, the British media claimed that the secret meeting between the Indian foreign minister and the Canadian foreign minister took place in Washington.

It is to be noted that due to Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau’s statement on Nijjar’s murder, Delhi requested Canada to evacuate 41 diplomats from that country. Bilateral discussions have taken place between the two countries on that issue as well. Meanwhile, Trudeau recently said he does not want relations with India to deteriorate over Nijjar’s murder. They said that Canada always wants to maintain good relations with India.

It should be noted that Hardeep Singh Nijjar was murdered on Canadian soil on June 18. Claiming in the Canadian Parliament that India is behind the death of the pro-Khalistan leader, Trudeau said that Canadian agencies are investigating. Then on September 19, S. Jaishankar’s ministry – India’s Ministry of External Affairs – rejected that claim. After that, the foreign minister went on a visit to the US. Reports claim that he met with the Canadian Foreign Minister during that visit. The question is, is there any hope of melting the ice?
