India has again started issuing e-visas to Canadian citizens. According to the Indian Embassy in Canada, the process of giving electronic visas (e-visas) has started from Wednesday.
According to the High Commission, e-visas will be given to all citizens who are eligible to get a visa in Canada.
Last month, the process of issuing visas to Canadian citizens when they come to India for business, medical work or a conference began. E-Visa has been announced for everyone.
Why was the visa stopped?
Last September, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that India was behind the killing of Canadian citizen and pro-Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada has credible data on this.
Since then, diplomatic relations between the two countries have reached rock bottom. India also stopped issuing e-visas.
Withdrawal of diplomats
India informs that Canada has to take back 41 diplomats from New Delhi embassy. India claimed that there is a huge difference in the number of embassy staff of the two countries. Canadian embassies are overstaffed. So they have to repatriate 41 diplomats. Canada later took them back.
Delhi has also repeatedly demanded action against pro-Khalistan leaders. India’s Ministry of External Affairs has said that the way pro-Khalistan separatists are working in Canada is a matter of concern.
