If you want to live together without marriage in Uttarakhand, you have to inform the government

A government official in Uttarakhand told NDTV that a website is being developed for registration of Live Together.

Men and women living together or planning to live together in Uttarakhand, India must register with the Divisional Office. Those under the age of 21, must also bring permission from their parents. Residents of Uttarakhand who live in other parts of the country will also have to officially register with Live Together.

Indian media NDTV reported in a report on Tuesday (February 6) that Uttarakhand’s ‘Uniform Civil Code’ will come into effect only after it becomes law.

However, not everyone can register in this case. Because in cases where ‘anti-social and moral’ signs are found, they will not be able to register. For example, if you are married or in any other relationship, you cannot register. Besides, if they are minors and there is evidence of cheating with the partner in the case of live together, their registration will also be blocked.

A government official in Uttarakhand told NDTV that a website is being developed for registration of Live Together. which will be verified by a Divisional Registrar. He will check everything before giving permission to live together. And the registrar can call two partners or someone else before permission.

If the registration of a living partner is refused, the spouse must give reasons in writing. In addition, if any suspicion arises, the police will be informed and the parents of those under 21 years of age will be informed.

To live together must be officially registered. Those who fail to register will face six months imprisonment or a fine of Rs 25,000 if caught. And those who furnish false information will be punished with imprisonment of three months or a fine of 25 thousand rupees or with both. Even if someone delays registration, he can be jailed for three months and fined Rs.10,000.

The new law was taken up in Uttarakhand Parliament on Tuesday. The draft law also states that children born through cohabitation will be considered ‘legitimate’. There will be no more illegitimate children in this state.
