ICC withdraws ban from Sri Lanka

ICC imposes ban on Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC). The country was punished last November for breaking the rules. Finally got release. The cricket governing body has lifted the ban on SLC.

The ICC has been monitoring the overall performance of the Lankan board since the ban. Now the ban has been lifted as the situation seems satisfactory. The company informed the information on Monday (January 29).

November 10 last year. ICC temporarily bans direct government intervention on the board. According to the law of the organization, the government cannot interfere in any way on the cricket board. The Board shall conduct its activities independently in all functions, regulation and administration of cricket.

However, ICC has allowed Sri Lanka to play bilateral series on November 21. At the same time, the Lankans have been allowed to play in the ICC events as well.

Despite allowing the team to play, Sri Lanka has yet to host an ICC-organised tournament. The ongoing U-19 World Cup was supposed to be held in Sri Lanka. But the ICC has moved this crowded event from the Indian Ocean island nation to South Africa.
