13 killed in gunfight between two armed groups in Manipur, India. The media reported this information from a report of Hindustan Times.
According to the report, there was a fierce gun battle between two unidentified armed groups in Manipur. A senior police officer, who did not wish to be named, said that no weapon was found near the body.
The state police is not yet sure whether the gunfight took place between two armed groups. The police believe that this clash has nothing to do with the ethnic conflict that has been going on for the past seven months.
Earlier on May 3, communal violence broke out in Manipur. Since then, there have been sporadic clashes between the two communities across the state for months, between the majority Meiti and the minority Kuki-Zo communities.
At least 180 people have lost their lives and more than 50,000 have been displaced since the Mayiti and Kuki riots broke out. 3.2 million people live in this state bordering Myanmar.
