Does ‘brave’ clothing actually make a woman bolder?

On social media, we often see news of various models or heroines presenting themselves in ‘bold look’ or daring outfits. This bold look is mostly limited to their overt presentation in makeup or clothing. As soon as such a picture of a model or a heroine is posted, the discussion starts about it. It doesn’t take time for the news to go viral instantly with the tide of likes, views and comments.

The question is, can it be called ‘bold dress’ only when it appears in open clothes, or is there also the struggle of patriarchal power politics, which makes the position of women on the opposite side of the bold look shaky?

Since ancient times, people have been fascinated with women’s character, beauty, body and clothes. That trend continues today, and will continue in the future. With today’s free flow of information and the availability of social media, these news and pictures that are at the center of people’s interest do not take time to spread. And the market share of such news is so high that it doesn’t take time for one to start a storm.

At the beginning of civilization, clothing was born on the one hand to suppress shame, on the other hand to protect the human body from the hostile natural environment. The concept of separate clothing for men and women is largely dictated by society. Therefore clothing has no universally accepted definition or characteristics. Clothing is determined according to the country’s tradition, culture and nature-environment.

There is probably no such dress in the world, which is acceptable to 100% of people. While there is no debate about men’s clothing, the debate about women’s clothing does not want to stop; Whether the dress is covered, open or any other characteristic.

But this debate is not just a debate; Rather, it hides the strategy of keeping women oppressed and the complex calculations of the global trade capitalizing on women’s bodies and beauty. While women are clearly at the center of it, the trade is largely male-led, male-participated, male-controlled.

Now let’s talk about what a bold look means. A bold outfit is basically something new out of the ordinary, which quickly grabs the attention of others and sets that person apart from the rest of the crowd.

Individuals can quickly highlight their personality through exceptional clothing. That clothing can be out of the conventional trend or combining the conventional with the unconventional or any new clothing incorporating exotic colors, trims or designs.

But nowadays, combining the brevity of clothing with boldness to become the center of public attention is a well-planned and profit-making strategy of the view-all business.

Another prerequisite for a bold outfit is that the person wearing the unconventional outfit should carry it with ease and confidence. If not, it is inevitable that the personality will be reflected. But in many cases the lack of confidence is clearly visible in the presentation of their clothes. Not normality, but market cut becomes the key in their behavior and speech.

It takes courage to challenge anything conventional, no doubt. But if the dress is open, then the dress is bold – this kind of thinking is unthinkable. It’s not about courage, but about trying to get others’ attention. Generally, people without confidence are desperate to get attention from others.

There is much debate about the definition and extent of obscenity. Clothing is freedom of the individual. It is natural for a person to dress according to his taste and desire. But clothes worn for commercial purposes can be easily guessed.

And as bold as it may be touted to be, it really isn’t. Courage is not in clothes, courage is in the heart. Confidence is the source of courage. A person usually chooses clothes in which he feels confident. Every person finds confidence in different clothes. May be the dress emerges from religious or social consciousness, conforms to the culture of the country or inspired by current fashion.

A bold presentation of the individual does not require provocative clothing, shoes, jewelry or makeup. No need to present yourself as younger; Rather, what is most important is that we can accept what we are wearing with confidence, trust and respect. What is true to us is our confidence.

Courage is born from confidence. Courage has its own beauty. So our own self, which can be held and nurtured with confidence, is our bold look. That is our own style. Poet guru Rabindranath Tagore said in his last poetry novel, ‘Fashion is a mask and style is a face.’
