Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, has advanced 14 steps in the list of the world’s most expensive cities.

Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, has advanced 14 steps in the list of the world’s most expensive cities. Hong Kong tops this list for 2024. In 2023, Dhaka’s position was 154, and this year it has ranked 140.

The Mercer Cost of Living Survey released its list of the world’s most expensive cities for expats on Monday. Hong Kong topped the list in 2022 and 2023 as well. Next is Singapore. Among the top 10 cities are some cities from Switzerland.

At least 200 factors from 226 cities of the world including transport, food, clothing, household goods and entertainment have been taken into consideration in making this list.

New York is the seventh most expensive city in the US. On the other hand, last year London was at the 17th place in this list. But this time this UK city has risen to eighth place. Another US city, Los Angeles, is at 10th place.

Toronto is the most expensive city in Canada for foreign workers. It is ranked 92nd in the list. Next is the location of Vancouver.

The top 10 most expensive cities this year are – Hong Kong, Singapore, Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Bern, New York, London, Nassau and Los Angeles.
