At least 21 people have been killed and 50 others injured in a suicide bombing at a bank office in Kandahar, Afghanistan’s second-largest city.

After the attack, the injured were taken to Mirwais Hospital in Kandahar. AFP confirmed this information citing the doctors of that hospital.

However, the doctors did not want to give any more detailed information; He said, they are not allowed to talk to the media.

Kandahar police said in a statement that the attack took place at the cash counter of the government-controlled Kabul Bank office on Thursday afternoon. All the dead were civilians. They came to the bank to withdraw their salary.

Several armed groups are currently active in Afghanistan, including the Islamic State of Khorasan (ISK), the main rival of the ruling Taliban group. However, it is still unclear who carried out the attack. No individual or group has yet issued a statement claiming responsibility for the attack. Neither police nor administration officials have released the names of any suspects.

According to local sources, there have been several bombings across Afghanistan since the beginning of Ramadan this year, but the Taliban government has tried to cover up most of the incidents.
