When you was small

Ashura Villa, Dhaka. That day was incredibly sunny. You were very young then. Everyone was amazed by your tiny limbs and how they moved. It seemed like you were always trying to grasp something with your little hands or wiggling your toes in a sweet way.

You had a peculiar, sweet smile. Whenever you laughed, your parents and siblings would feel their hearts fill with joy. Sometimes, you would suddenly burst into tears, and everyone would be busy trying to calm you down. Even your cries were sweet, and by the tone of your cry, everyone could understand what you needed.

The times when you were learning to speak were extraordinary. When you first uttered “Ma” or “Baba,” your parents cried with joy. It was as if they had gained the entire world in those tiny words.

One day, you learned to walk. Falling down was quite common at first, but you didn’t give up. You would try to get back up and, supporting yourself with your small feet, slowly start walking again. Your parents were amazed and happy to see your courage.

When you finally learned to run around the whole room, that day was the most joyous. Your older siblings were so happy to see your achievement that they hugged you tightly and showered you with love.

When you were little, your mother would carry you in her lap and take you for a walk in the garden. Your eyes were filled with curiosity and a sweet smile was on your face. The flowers, birds, and butterflies in the garden were like magic to you. Whenever you saw a butterfly, you would wave your hands and try to catch it.

One day, while playing in the garden, you fell down. Your mother ran and picked you up. You were crying, but your tears stopped when you were in your mother’s lap. Your mother hugged you and said, “My brave warrior, don’t be afraid. You can do anything.” Hearing this, a sweet smile returned to your face.

Another fun memory of your childhood was your first birthday. The whole house was decorated that day. Your parents, grandparents, everyone together had made a big cake for you. When you went to cut the cake, your little hands went into the cake. Everyone started laughing and started to love you.

When you grew up a little, you started going to school. On your first day of school, your mother held your hand. You were a little scared, but remembering your mother’s courage, you became brave. As soon as you went to school, you made new friends and everyone started playing together.

Your first school teacher loved you very much. He used to tell you, “You will grow up to be something great. You have talent and courage.” You should be very happy to hear this and concentrate on your studies.

Another fun memory from your childhood is reading your first book. Your mother brought you a small book one day. You learned to read then and enjoyed reading that book. Every night you sit on your mother’s lap to read that book, and she tells you more new stories. Your mother was a magician in your eyes, always teaching and loving you.

One day your father took you to the field to play. You loved playing football with your father. When you kicked the first ball, your father screamed with joy. “Wow! My son/daughter is going to be a footballer!” It was a wonderful day for you. You and your father played a lot of sports together and your father kept praising you all day long.

When you were a kid, your pranks with your brother or sister were a lot of fun. You play sports together all day and sometimes have small fights. But in no time everything would be fine and you would start playing together again. Your parents used to laugh and say, “You are nothing without each other.”

“When you were a little older, you used to listen to stories from your grandparents. Your grandparents would tell you stories of their childhood, stories of their bravery. You would be fascinated by those stories and dream that one day you would be as brave as them. Dida used to tell you, “You are our pride. You keep our stories alive.”

These fun moments of your childhood will remain immortal in the hearts of your parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents. These memories of your childhood bring joy and laughter to everyone even today.
