Incredible stories

Every day I hear unbelievable stories of billions of rupees being embezzled.

Every day, news and photos of families who have been victims of kidnapping and murder surface on my Facebook feed.

Every day, someone or the other opens their mouth about a history of 15 years of deception.

Even after all this, I think the biggest damage fascism has done to us is to our minds. It has sown seeds of distrust and immorality in every pore of our being. Over the past 15 years, these seeds have grown from saplings into mighty trees. We have lost the ability to think healthily, naturally, and comprehensively.

We have brought in the Pied Piper, promising to rid the city of all its rats with the magic of his flute. But the reality is that if most of the people in the city stood in front of a mirror, instead of a human figure, they would see a rat’s image. Some have just grown tails, some have just started to sharpen their faces, and some have started to grow their mustaches quite long. Unbeknownst to themselves, many have begun to walk on four legs instead of two. Almost everyone was mentally prepared to participate in the rat race. Among them, one group is trying desperately to become human again. And the other group has no such urgency. They dream of when everyone will walk on four legs together.

We appeal to the blood of all martyrs. If we want to build the nation with the success of the artisans, then stop biting here and there like rats. Democracy is a long-term process. It requires wisdom, patience, and long practice. If we don’t start practicing these soon, our hard-earned fruits will be repeatedly devoured by the crows. And countless martyrs like Fayaz, Mugdha, and Abu Saeed will continue to pay the price of our petty demands with their blood.
