Facebook’s Many Problems

Seeing the outcries on Facebook, it seems that the biggest national problem in Bangladesh is the harassment and forced resignation of teachers. Personally, I am strongly against this barbarity.

All my achievements are due to the immense contributions of my teachers. I consider myself the result of their hard work and sacrifice. I am fortunate enough to have the blessings of many teachers on my head even at this middle age.

Yet, I feel no reaction when I see these teachers being insulted. Instead, I am a little surprised when people who remained indifferent during the genocide are showing a huge reaction to these incidents.

Let it be! Everyone is responsible for their own conscience. But I need to explain why I’m not showing the usual unrest in such a situation. The main reason is that I don’t agree with calling them teachers. Calling them teachers is an insult to my respected teachers.

Teachers and guardians are very sacred identities in our society. They have to be earned. A chair can be obtained with a job letter, but one cannot become a teacher. Those who are expressing anger about these incidents, their reality might be different. Let’s assume…

-Their teachers never forced them to study privately.
-Their teachers did not give special privileges to the incompetent children of political leaders by depriving the deserving students.
-Their teachers never sexually harassed them.
-Their teachers did not politicize education
-Their teachers did not spend the money allocated for the students.
-Their teachers did not bully the child for the position of guardian.

or
– They did not feel the need to appear in the classroom due to being members of the political party.

If you or someone close to you has not personally faced them, then it is not your job to understand the reality of these angry children. The biggest scandal involving teachers in our time was the story of Hamida Ali, the principal of Vikarunnisa School, who brought hotel towels with her on a foreign trip.

That reality is no more. All that has changed in the last few decades. I heard from a junior of my department ten years that a university teacher proposed marriage to a student of the department. When the student refused, he publicly threatened to rape her with political goons. It is very important to read the next part for those who excuse the law and justice when the teacher is wrong. When the aggrieved student complained against the teacher, the teacher was suspended for only two months and after two months he returned with dignity and made life miserable for the student.

I am talking about 13/14 years ago. In the last 13/14 years, no one had the space to report this complaint.

So Kumbhira thinks before shedding tears. In the last one month, I realized how precious tears are. The tears of the oppressed shake the throne of God, destroy the tyranny. Instead, keep your eyes on the videos of van-loads of dead bodies that have been doing the rounds on Facebook for the past two days.

What could be more cruel and dishonorable to a life? I could not see the whole thing, Norway! Those who have not yet found the body of their loved ones, may be watching this heartbreaking video over and over again. A corner of a shirt, a fold of a pant, a part of a face if it matches the missing child. Your tears, moans rather keep them for them.

Emotions, tears, heartache, these are great sacred things – don’t abuse them.
