Another 20,000 landless people are getting houses

Secretary Md. Mahmudul Hossain Khan said that the Prime Minister is arranging houses for the homeless and landless.

Another 20,000 homeless and landless people are getting houses in the fifth phase under the ‘Ashrayan-2’ project under the Prime Minister’s Office. Their houses may be allotted next June.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given in-principle approval for the expenditure of the inaugural function to be organized for allotment of these houses following Direct Purchase Method (DPM).

This approval was given in the cabinet committee meeting held on Tuesday (May 21) under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali. At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of Coordination and Reform of the Cabinet Department. Mahmudul Hossain Khan told this information to reporters.

Secretary Md. Mahmudul Hossain Khan said that the Prime Minister is arranging houses for the homeless and landless. So far about 24 thousand 520 homeless and landless people have been allotted houses. The remaining portion of the fifth phase will be allotted houses to another 20,000 landless people.

He said, the houses have already been completed. Now the handover will be done through a formal ceremony. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given in-principle approval to complete the procurement works following the direct procurement method for these program works.

In response to the question of when these houses will be handed over, the secretary said that the Prime Minister has been given a summary, possibly June. No date has been set yet. The Prime Minister will give time as per convenience.
