The Power of Words: To Build or Break

Taslima Jamal

A sweet phrase can lift the spirit, a beautiful story can transport the heart—there’s so much richness in good conversation.

No matter what you do in life, never be the reason someone feels hurt by your words. The softest part of our body—the tongue—can, if used carelessly, pierce someone’s soul. Whenever possible, speak gently. Avoid vulgarity. A sarcastic jab might ruin someone’s entire day, or worse, extinguish their will to keep going.

Even the pain of a physical injury fades with time, but the wound inflicted by words often lingers forever. Words can bring tears just as easily as they can create heartfelt connection. It’s a simple truth—do you realize that? So why not use words to build bridges instead of burning them? Don’t earn someone’s curse through harsh speech—earn their trust and admiration through kindness and compassion.

If you know someone’s weakness and you use your words to mock or expose it, or you gossip or lie, you’re not winning anything. In fact, you’re losing—big time. Eventually, life will serve you the bill for that damage. Instead of rambling on with negativity, say a few kind words. Cool someone’s heart with compassion. After all, words are an art, and the stroke of a pen can be magic.

A sweet phrase can lift the spirit, a beautiful story can transport the heart—there’s so much richness in good conversation. Yet people choose to yell, insult, or weaponize their voice for personal gain. Many don’t even realize the immense power carried in their tone. With the right words, you can literally win the world. Winning hearts isn’t a small thing. When words are woven with care, the impossible becomes possible.

Coming closer or drifting apart—it all happens through conversation. Those who constantly poke or provoke can never truly belong in someone’s heart. We all crave connection and peace. But when arrogance speaks or ego seeps into someone’s voice, it’s better not to listen at all.

Hope is built, heartbreak healed, and trust born—through words. Promises begin with speech, and whether they’re kept or broken is shown through actions. People admire those whose words and actions align. What money can’t buy, words often can. Even legends speak of casting out evil spirits with just the right words!

The familiar becomes distant, and the unknown becomes dear—all through conversation. Only the unwise raise their voice to dominate. After all, even a donkey brays loudest. Those who choose their words gently tend to be pure-hearted too. Many tangled problems are unraveled with dialogue. Words are the key to the human heart. They’re the magic wand that wins over the soul.

How someone stays in our heart, how deeply they stay—depends on their words. There’s no stronger contract than a spoken promise. And those who break their word, who forget their oaths, history brands them as traitors. A world without words is unimaginable. When speech dies, so does humanity.

A bullet fired and a word spoken—they can never be taken back. So think before you speak. Words measure the depth of a person’s wisdom. Learn to discern what to say, when, and to whom. Language alone doesn’t make speech—it’s the intent, the care, the heart behind it. The best words are those that bring hope, offer healing, and carry blessings.

Words aren’t exclusive to humans. Birds chirp, animals cry, trees whisper to the wind. The moon speaks to the stars through the night. Artists, dreamers, and the broken-hearted—each has their own kind of conversation. It’s the hum of communication that makes this world so beautiful. Sharing thoughts, emotions, and love—that all happens through speech. A silent world is a lifeless one. Let words be our companion through eternity. Let the words of our loved ones be the most melodious of all.
