Every day I sit in the discussion and criticism hall with a bunch of complaints. There are many complaints, from the mistakes of the chief advisor to the mistakes of the house helper. Since the wife is helpless, she can be told two more things! If you complain to someone else in the name of your husband, you will also get sympathy! No bureaucrat-policeman, hero-singer or coolie-laborer is left out of the condemnation. Everyone I have thought about, talked to or lived with – everyone is full of mistakes. It is very surprising that I am not on that list. As if I have no mistakes! We have two eyes, one brain and mind, and we have not found any mistakes in me! We have caught the mistakes of big people and given imaginary punishments. We have caught the flaws of small people and poked them but I have not found any mistakes and I have not even awakened any self-excuse. Question: Do I have any mistakes? Answer: There is no shortage of mistakes. Others see them, only I do not see them.
I corrected everyone’s mistakes, everyone moved forward but where am I? I complained in everyone’s name, everyone was judged and I ran away alone! How can I be human like this? If the world moves forward far and I lag far behind, then the people of the world will forget me one day. If I want to walk with everyone, if I want to talk to everyone, I have to boldly see my own faults, crimes and injustices before seeing the faults of others. If I don’t admit that I also make mistakes, that I also don’t know everything, then I will not be able to become pure. I will not have a place in the procession of lights. I will not have a share in building a pure society in the light of self-purification.
If I don’t change, my world will not change. Attitude is an important factor. Everyone is improving, but I stuck to the wrong, I argued for the wrong and organized debates in favor of it – no one else; I am the one who is being harmed. There is talk of reforming the system – it will not be of any use if the people, the character and nature of people do not change. It can be suppressed with strict laws but cannot be eradicated. Making mistakes is not a crime, but not admitting it after realizing it is a big crime. Making mistakes has not caused significant damage to the country or the world, but knowing that there is a mistake, the tendency to secretly blame others has kept us thousands of years behind. The tendency to blame others is our long-standing nature!
One must purify oneself. It is not the feeling that everyone should be pure and that I should remain as I am, but rather the conviction that I will be pure and that no matter what others do, it makes a person great. By purifying oneself, one can also warn others. If everyone is committed, if instead of finding fault with others, if they admit their own faults and rectify them, it will not take long for the customs of this country to be purified. To keep the country a country of people, one must keep one’s own field clean. The family I am the head of must lead the family on the right path. The office I am the boss of must maintain purity and there must be a commitment that injustice and crime will not be tolerated in the office where I am the leader of the social organization. This is how a country and a nation change. The nation must turn around.
If I can be my own judge, if my conscience is my guide or if I am truthful and honest, this society will change. I will not do wrong and will not tolerate any wrongdoing as much as possible – we can change our own destiny and the future of the country by taking this oath. Opportunities do not come again and again. To make the immense potential of state formation fruitful, everyone has to stand above personal greed and delusion. We have to join hands and build a new society.
If my inside is pure, then the outside is bound to be pure and virtuous. There must be a hearing in self-examination in the mirror of conscience. What am I doing and what should I do? – This feeling must be held in the conscience. If I am the judge of my actions and words, no one can lead me astray. Then religion will show the right path. State laws and regulations will teach discipline. May I never be stingy in bowing down to the elders and loving the younger ones. May the sense of sticking to good and avoiding evil remain in all the days of my life. Perspective is important. Change and change.
