People have narrowly escaped from a terrible accident in Punjab, India. On Sunday, a freight train ran for 70 km without a driver at a speed of 100 km per hour in the province. The people on the railway line and station started running in panic.

Railway officials said the driver forgot to pull the hand brake before getting off the train. At that time the train stopped at Pathankot station. The train started moving on its own without applying the brakes. There were stones in that freight train. The train passes through 5 stations without a driver. It was then halted at Uti Bassi.

An official said that the railway employees created obstacles by placing wood on the line. Then the train stopped. No one was injured.

The train was going from Punjab to Jammu with 53 coaches. A video of this train has gone viral on social media. It shows that the train is passing the station with great speed.

The senior officials of Indian Railways are now trying to identify the error to ensure that such incidents do not happen in the future. However, they said that the exact cause of this incident has not yet been confirmed.
