The third theater festival of Natyasangh Canada, held in Toronto, Canada, was based on the concept that ‘Drama is the mirror of society, a weapon of protest against injustice, and a driving force towards purity, goodness, and beauty.’
Over two days, two new plays, ‘Pouraanik’ and ‘Ram Goruder Chana’, were staged. Both plays were written and directed by Subrata Puru.
The mythological play was a ‘song-dance-stage-spoken drama’, while ‘Ram Garuder Chana’ was a satirical play. The performances of guest artists Sonali Roy on the first day and Rani Prentice Roy on the second day truly turned the entire event into a festive atmosphere.
A notable aspect of both plays was the participation of the new generation, which attracted the audience. Director Subrata Puru expressed his elation, stating that after enjoying a full-fledged stage play in a far-off land, the audience’s response has left them exhilarated, overwhelmed, and inspired.
