You think it doesn’t matter? It’s accumulating. If you deceive someone, cause them pain, or betray their trust – the curse will catch you. If you wrongfully seize someone’s rights, steal their due, or snatch their freedom – you will not escape. One day, as you walk along, you will stumble and fall. Displaying the arrogance of unlawful power, spreading corruption in society, or slandering others – do you think you’ll get away with it? Oppressing the weak, enslaving those under you, or causing someone’s eyes to fill with tears – can you live in peace after that? It’s not that easy. When you keep crossing the line, growing bolder, a day will come when you’ll be brought to your knees.
You may be let off for a while, but you will never be let go entirely.
If you unjustly consume even a single penny belonging to someone else, if you insult someone without reason, or if you deprive someone of their rightful dues – nature will not welcome you with open arms. When someone sighs in grief because of you, or curses you with a justified heartache – you will have to bear the consequences. People may stay silent out of fear when facing you, but if you heard what they say behind your back, you would consider death a more honorable path. The punishment for sin is inevitable. Not all consequences are reserved for the afterlife – many will strike you in this world. Will you be able to withstand the hard days when they come? The future will repay you in full, with interest, for the wrongs you leave behind in your past. Your days will be filled with suffering.
Commit whatever sins you may, but do not deceive people. Do not involve yourself in anything that draws sighs of pain from others. Do not consume what rightfully belongs to others. How long will power last? Those who have vanished from this world – what did they carry with them to their graves? Did any of their worldly wealth help them? And yet, their wealth carried the blood of the oppressed. Their food contained the livelihood of the poor. Unjustly seized wealth never brought them benefit; rather, it became the cause of their destruction. A human being has a lifespan shorter than a turtle’s. Yet, with such haste, they commit injustices, deceive others, and cause harm. If people truly considered the consequences, they would never entangle themselves in the curses of others. They would never break anyone’s trust.
Even if you cannot help others in this life, do not become the cause of their curse. If you harm someone, even if they do not wish for it, a curse will descend upon you. Because the consequence of wrongdoing extends beyond the individual – it damages the surroundings as well. Humans are not the only inhabitants of this world. Animals and the environment also call this earth their home. Even animals know how to curse. Before human curses reach you, the Creator hears the sighs of the creatures. Therefore, tread carefully on this earth. You cannot light up your nights with joy while creating unrest in someone else’s life. The thought of making loud noises without care should not even arise. Those who are truly human, who understand and respect faith, do not bring harm to even the smallest creatures like ants. You should follow the voice of your conscience and listen to the wisdom of the scriptures.
If your actions cause someone to shed tears, if you upset someone’s heart, or if you humiliate someone – the burden will be yours to carry, and you will be held accountable. People may not have the strength to confront you, and fear may silence them – but there is One who possesses infinite power. If you commit injustice, He will make you suffer. If someone curses you, He will burn you with that curse. He can strip you of peace and take away your blessings. No one questions His justice. Whatever you do, whatever you say – think carefully. If people curse you, if they wish for your downfall because of your wrongs – there will be no escape. If you rob someone of their rights, there is no one who can forgive you, except Him.
Think before you act.
