The Canadian government has determined the weekly working hours of foreign students. Because of being more busy with work than studies, their academic performance has declined significantly.

The Canadian government has made this rule to improve the academic performance of foreign students. According to this rule, from now on, foreign students can work outside the college campus for 24 hours a week. This rule will be effective from next September.

Earlier foreign students were allowed to work off-campus for more than 20 hours.

Canadian Immigration Minister Mark Miller said the temporary policy allowing students to work more than 20 hours per week on campus will expire on April 30. It will no longer be extended.

He further informed that our aim is to reduce the work period of students off campus to 24 hours per week. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has temporarily lifted the 20-hour work limit for international students during the coronavirus pandemic.

Allowing students to work up to 24 hours a week means they will be able to focus more on their studies, Miller said. Working off-campus will especially benefit foreign students. They will also gain work experience, and there will be no shortage of education.

In Australia and the United States, those who work more than 28 hours per week have significantly lower academic performance.
