Swimming without goggles brings blindness!

Intense heat all around. sweat coming out Many are gasping. In the meantime, many people are thinking of jumping into the swimming pool or the sea to cool themselves. But it is important to be careful before going down to these places. Because there are hidden dangers that are harmful to the eyes.

Ophthalmologist Morgan Sayes says swimming without goggles can cause blindness. As a result, he called for eye protection in popular spots for picnics or leisure. Morgan raised the issue as temperatures soared to 31 degrees Celsius in parts of the UK this week.

According to this eye specialist, swimming without goggles can cause serious damage. Because the heart or swimming pool water hides harmful bacteria. Especially Acanthamoeba, which can cause fatal disease if it infects the cornea. Symptoms of Acanthamoeba keratitis include pain and redness, blurred vision, light sensitivity and watery eyes.

He said, chlorine or other chemicals are often used to disinfect swimming pools. When these chemicals come into contact with organic compounds such as sweat or skin, they have the potential to form harmful byproducts.

Morgan says the best way to protect yourself is to wear goggles while swimming. This is especially important for contact lens wearers. Contact lenses should be removed before coming into contact with water. And be it in the shower or in the swimming pool.
