Recommendation to change the name of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs

The Standing Committee on Ministry of Women and Children Affairs of the 12th National Parliament has recommended changing the name of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs to the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

This recommendation was made in the first meeting chaired by Sagufta Yasmin, President of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Women and Child Affairs at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhawan on Sunday.

The meeting was attended by the member of the committee State Minister of Primary and Mass Education Simin Hossain Rimi, Md. Abdul Aziz, Syeda Zakia Noor, Khadijatul Anwar, Tahmina Begum and Mohammad Zillur Rahman.

Various projects of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs were presented in the meeting. Interest is expressed in implementing the projects with integrity and accountability.

In the meeting, the committee recommended to the ministry to increase the maternity allowance for women beyond the age of 18 years, to increase the facilities for street children and to bring underserved children under the service of the village level.

In the meeting, the committee advised the ministry to take assistance measures from the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs in the same way as the Ministry of Social Welfare provides assistance to women and children.

Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, heads of organizations, concerned officials of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and National Parliament Secretariat were present in the meeting.
