At 1:40am on December 25, 2022, Neepawa, Spruce Plains and Minnedosa RCMP responded to a hotel fire on Morris St. in Gladstone.
The local fire department was already on scene and attempting to extinguish the fire when officers arrived.
With the assistance of a local resident, the officers began evacuating buildings that were connected to the hotel.
Officers were then advised that an adult male who resided in one of the rooms in the hotel had not been seen and was potentially still within the building.
Once the structure fire was extinguished, remains were located inside. Identification of the deceased individual is pending an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
