Independent Bangladesh has come into existence, but the condition of religious minorities has not changed
Taslima Jamal

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, his explanation of Islam is liberal. Former President of India APJ Abul Kalam is everyone’s respect. If they had listened to or followed their words, the ‘clash of civilizations’ on religion would have been reduced to a great extent. I have not heard any Muslim speak against Netaji Subhas Bose. I have not seen any Hindu make adverse comments about APJ Abul Kalam. So can it be said that if you are a Hindu, then you are Subhas Bose; if you are a Muslim, then you are APJ Abul Kalam? The big thing is, Subhas Bose or APJ Abul Kalam were human beings, ‘Humanity is the truth above all’; before becoming a Hindu-Muslim, be a good human being, only then is it possible to be a good Hindu or a good Muslim?
There is no end to the debate in the subcontinent about India-Pakistan? Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was the first education minister of independent India, he served with honor until his death. At the same time, Jogen Mondal was the law minister in Pakistan, he greatly helped in the inclusion of East Bengal into Pakistan. However, while he was a minister, he had to flee Pakistan and go to Kolkata to save his life. If we analyze these two events, isn’t it easy to understand the status or position of religious minorities in India and Pakistan? That East Bengal later became East Pakistan, and later it became independent Bangladesh, but the position of religious minorities has not changed, they are still the deposit of the tyrant, foreigners in their own country?
Four Muslim presidents have been elected in India, Zakir Hossain, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, Mohammad Hidayatullah and APJ Abul Kalam. Muslims have held the positions of Home Minister, Air Chief Marshal, and many other posts in India. Once the Speaker of West Bengal was a Muslim, now the Mayor of Kolkata is Firhad Hekim. Surendra Kumar Sinha was the Chief Justice of Bangladesh for a short time, he has left the country. Justice Debesh Chandra Bhattacharya could have been the Chief Justice; Major General Chitta Ranjan Dutt could have been the Army Chief; A.K. Ganguly could have been the Governor of the Bank of Bangladesh, but for some unknown reason nothing happened! Those who applauded the Muskan-Arusha controversy in India, did not look at their own homes.
