Imprisoned former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been charged in a £190 million case (Reference).

An accountability court in Rawalpindi indicted them on Tuesday (February 27), Geo News reported.

According to the report, the court judge Nasir Javed Rana heard the case inside Adiala jail. The former prime minister is currently incarcerated in this prison for the crimes of leaking state secret documents, corruption and illegal marriage.

At that time, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were present in the special court. The judge read out the charges before them. At that time, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi and his team were present in the court.

The National Accountability Bureau was probing PTI chief Imran Khan, his wife and others for allegedly acquiring hundreds of canals of Khas land in the name of Al Qadir University Trust. The agency claims that corruption in the name of acquisition has caused a loss of 190 million pounds to the public exchequer.

During the hearing, the court observed that the testimony of 58 witnesses will be accepted in this case. While framing the complaint, the judge asked Imran Khan whether he was guilty or innocent. In response, the jailed PTI chief Imran Khan said, “Why should I go to read the chargesheet, when I know what it could have written.” After that, both Imran and his wife denied the charges brought against them. While replying, the PTI chief took to the stage.
