I wrote a long time ago, I am writing again today. There is a learning center called Kumon in Canada. Children from class one to class twelfth are trained there in maths and English reading. When I took my son there for the first admission, I was surprised to see a picture next to the door.
A picture of a small child captioned, “I want to be Prime Minister of Canada one day”! I saw that picture and posted it on Facebook. Because Canada is a democracy, anyone can dream of becoming the Prime Minister of this country one day. But can any child of a farmer, laborer or coolie in Bangladesh dream that one day he can become the Prime Minister of that country? Even if it is far from becoming the prime minister, the student society of the country has to pour their heart’s blood to get government jobs without discrimination.
So, seeing this statement on the wall of Dhaka today, I felt that I have been giving this statement for many years. Today, it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the tyranny that the students of the country have sacrificed to establish a non-discrimination society. Patriarchy is one of the main enemies of democracy.
Bury patriarchy, establish democracy, build a society without discrimination. Abolish the VIP system. Today is the day of change. State reform is needed so that no new dictatorship can come after a dictatorship. Under the leadership of Dr. Yunus, the country’s student society has reached the reach of the society in which even a rickshaw puller’s son or daughter can raise their index finger and say, ‘I want to be a Prime Minister of Bangladesh one day’!
