On June 27, 2022, around midnight, Drumheller RCMP received a complaint of suspicious activity at a local hotel. While investigating the complaint, two suspects were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. A search of the suspects and their vehicle resulted in a significant seizure of fentanyl. Police located and seized 273 grams of fentanyl, seven grams of methamphetamine, and an imitation firearm.
A 53-year-old individual and a 41-year-old individual, both of Red Deer, Alta., were charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Both individuals were released on an undertaking to appear in Drumheller Provincial Court on Aug. 19, 2022.
