Donation: From the center of religious feelings towards the welfare of humanity!
Logan D Suza

The saying ‘Donation boxes should be kept in hospitals, not mosques’ is somewhat true. However, it would be even stronger if it could be said, ‘Donation boxes should be kept in hospitals, not shrines.’ Money is actually needed for the needs of the living, not the dead. Help is needed for the needy and the needy. But there is a problem, a glaring problem! That is why donation boxes should be placed in mosques, not hospitals!
Let me tell you why in mosques! The field of donation is created from human feelings! Without emotional empathy, the feeling of donation is not created. Have you noticed that before giving alms, we look at the beggar’s appearance. If we think the beggar is worthy of receiving alms, then only do we donate two or five taka as much as we can. Sometimes we even ask for forgiveness! There is also a hidden purpose in donation, like hidden benefits. Virtue or afterlife exchange! Danger is removed, something good happens, or hopes are fulfilled – the goal of donation. Even if donation is selfless, self-interest is not actually sacrificed!
A beggar-patient can never do that. Still, religious consciousness is stronger than humanity in people’s minds! These two consciousnesses are not different, but the second one prevails! Therefore, the donation boxes should be in the mosque, but a proper arrangement should be made so that the money collected there is spent on the welfare of the patients! Some humane people should be involved in the management of mosques and madrasas. People make vows of crores of taka in crazy mosques! The number of such crazy mosques and shrines in Bangladesh is not one or two – thousands. People will not donate as much as they do here, even if they try a thousand times, in hospitals! Therefore, arrangements should be made so that the money from vows, money from donations and charity can be spent on the welfare of the distressed people. This movement should start with the mosque as its center.
What is the problem if there is a donation box in the hospital? Then people will become dependent on each other. There will be trade in donation money. The number of thieves and suicide bombers will increase! Corruption and nepotism will flourish among the supervisors and managers! Money is such a tonic that even a saint’s tongue can tremble when it sees it! Therefore, mosques, temples and madrasas should be developed as centers of human service. People will donate considering these places sacred. So that the donation money is spent on the education of helpless children, food for the needy and treatment of sick patients instead of being invested in business. In Bangladesh, a booming trade is done by collecting donation money! This needs to be stopped. Everything should not depend on the government, but rather the conscious people of the society should take charge.
If the donation money is used well, the good intentions of the donor will be successful. If a person suffering from a serious disease is cured, his prayers will work. If an orphan’s education is ensured, an orphan gets shelter or food is given to the hungry – that prayer will not go in vain. There is no better habit than the habit of giving! However, it is important to donate with all your heart so that the money is dedicated to a noble cause. You should have the information whether someone you are donating is addicted to drugs or living a luxurious life. Donating a single taka to a worthy place is better than donating crores of taka to an unnecessary place.
In short, if donation is used for a noble purpose and properly managed, it can be used for the welfare of not only the poor and helpless people, but also the entire society. It is possible to make the culture of giving more effective and fruitful by utilizing the importance of religious institutions in the service of humanity. Only through this effort can we ensure the real progress of humanity.
