This decrease in processing may partially stem from concerns about Canada’s rising cost of living, voiced by international students online

While processing of Canadian study permits for Indian students faced a sharp decline – falling by over 40% since July 2023 – data suggests the overall trend remains positive. This decrease in processing may partially stem from concerns about Canada’s rising cost of living, voiced by international students online.

However, study permit approval rates for Indian students haven’t dropped – in fact, they’ve risen compared to 2022. This indicates continued strong interest in Canadian education. Canada is set to surpass its 2022 record for approved Indian student visas, even with slower processing. Projections see 200,000 to 210,000 Indian students studying in Canada this year, showcasing enduring appeal despite temporary processing limitations.
