Canada Post Prepares for Busy Holiday Season with Increased Staff, Vehicles, and Aircraft

As the holiday season approaches, Canada Post is bracing for a surge in parcel deliveries by bolstering its staff, vehicles, aircraft, and processing capacity. This expansion aims to ensure timely and efficient delivery of holiday packages across the country.

“We are excited to deliver the best peak season ever for Canadians and businesses across the country,” stated Lisa Liu, a Canada Post spokesperson. The company is adding more temporary staff, deploying more vehicles and aircraft, and expanding weekend delivery services. Additionally, a new parcel processing facility in Toronto will significantly enhance the company’s handling capacity.

These measures will augment Canada Post’s extensive network of nearly 5,900 post offices, almost 470 depots, and 22 processing plants nationwide.

Despite the anticipated increase in holiday shopping, consumer spending habits are likely to be impacted by rising inflation and interest rates. A recent Ipsos poll revealed that nearly 80% of Canadians perceive inflation and interest rate hikes as having a significant impact on their holiday budgets.

In response to this trend, many Canadians are delaying significant purchases and seeking out deals during major shopping events like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Boxing Day.

Canada Post’s standard mail delivery within Canada typically takes two to four business days, but weather conditions and mail volume can affect delivery timelines. The company provides an online tool to assist customers in estimating parcel delivery times.

Liu advised customers to visit their local post office early to explore various shipping options and pricing plans. She also recommended carefully reviewing retailers’ shipping details when making online purchases to select the most suitable delivery option.

Last year, severe winter weather disrupted delivery services across the country, forcing Canada Post to temporarily suspend or delay deliveries in several regions. This year, the company is taking proactive measures to minimize the impact of adverse weather conditions.

With its enhanced operational capabilities, Canada Post is well-positioned to navigate the upcoming holiday season and deliver a seamless experience for both Canadians and businesses nationwide.
