Holding onto resentment causes the greatest harm to oneself. However, it is important to remember and stay aware of incidents. One must refrain from seeking revenge when the opportunity arises. Keeping imaginary enmity alive harms not the enemy but oneself. Forgetting how someone behaved in the past may lead to being deceived again, causing emotional pain and sleepless nights. Tears are valuable. It is unwise to shed them for trivial matters, unimportant people, or fleeting incidents. If the same misfortune repeats in life, the victim is partly to blame.
If someone did not stand by you in times of trouble, did not extend a helping hand when needed, or failed to offer sincere advice during a crisis—should you seek revenge? Not at all. Never. Wishing ill upon others, hoping for their downfall, or inviting misfortune into their lives should never be a source of joy. No one should suffer from such petty thinking. However, a betrayer must be remembered. The person who caused pain should have their image etched in your mind—not to take revenge, but to remain vigilant and prevent being hurt, deceived, or used again.
Being deceived by the same person twice or repeating the same mistake—that is your own responsibility. The first mistake is forgivable. The second time must also be forgiven, but not without compensation. When mistakes become habitual, punishment becomes necessary. There is a difference between breaking a wall of bricks and breaking trust. A broken wall can be rebuilt, but a broken heart can never fully accept again. There is a vast difference between someone being physically present and someone being present in the heart. Those who fail to understand this distinction gain nothing—neither heart nor people.
Have you grown distant from someone? It is better to avoid them. But if you plot against them, wish for their downfall, or harbor resentment, it ultimately benefits your enemy while severely damaging you. Holding someone in your mind with negativity drives away positive thoughts. A mind occupied with plotting the harm of others forgets creativity and loses its sense of beauty. Yet, a person should focus on shaping their own thoughts for personal growth. When one forgets their progress and obsesses over the downfall of their enemies, they lose everything—their potential withers before it can bloom.
Remember the helpful ones in your mind. Keep the harmful ones under your feet. Maintain distance from the toxic individuals every day. Keep your gaze forward and constantly move toward your dreams. Along life’s journey, ensure that selfishness, greed, or attachment does not invade your path. Let neither pride nor arrogance touch you. Wear humility like a garment, keep your heart pure, and look far ahead to your destination. Those who intend to harm you will eventually tire and retreat. The one who does not harm others will not fall into harm—this is a promise of life. An honest person may face obstacles, but no one can halt their journey. For though the path of truth is difficult, it ultimately leads to victory.
