Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has announced a 100% increase in the salaries of all government employees in Pakistan as the general elections are approaching.

On Tuesday (November 21), he said, if his party is given another chance to come to power, then the salaries of all government employees will be increased by 100 percent.

Addressing a public meeting in Upper Dir area, Bilawal said that his party, the PPP, had increased the salaries of government employees whenever they came to power, Geo News reported.

Earlier in 2010, the PPP-led federal government had increased the salaries of civil servants by 50 percent of their basic salaries on an ad hoc basis, Pakistani media reported. Apart from this, the party played a role in increasing the salaries of government employees by up to 35 percent during the last PDM coalition government.

Criticizing the current caretaker government, the PPP leader noted that inflation in the country has reached historic levels. Unemployment and poverty are increasing day by day. He also commented that the current rulers do not care about the sufferings of the people.

The PPT chairman said the ‘politics of hatred and division’ is harming the people. So politicians have to give up this kind of politics to bring the country out of crisis.
