The government has decided to import 50 thousand tons of wheat worth 164 crore 74 lakh rupees from Singapore.

The government has decided to import 50 thousand tons of wheat worth 164 crore 74 lakh rupees from Singapore. The Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement took this decision in a meeting on Wednesday.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over the meeting. After the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Syed Mahbub Khan gave details.

The Additional Secretary said that the Food Directorate has received approval to buy 50 thousand tons of wheat under package-3 through international open tender. The wheat will be purchased from M/S Agrocorp International Private Limited of Singapore. The total cost to buy the car of this lot will be 164 crore 74 lakh taka.

Besides, in a separate proposal, the purchase committee has approved the proposal to purchase the BMRE program of Chittagong silo from Vigan Engineering S.A. Belgium for Tk 63 crore 21 lakh through direct purchase method through the food department.
