A whole year has passed, yet you haven’t read even 12 books! Swear to me, have you finished even one book? But you are busy preparing to welcome the new year! Fireworks, crackers—you are bursting them! You’ll ruin the coming year too if you keep avoiding books!
Did you do any good in the past year? Have you done something that someone would be grateful for? Did you leave any opportunity for people to praise your name? Will time remember you for your actions? Did you achieve anything worth being proud of, either publicly or privately?
Believe me, even 2024 wasn’t safe for you. If you don’t read books or do good, 2025 won’t be safe either. You’ve messed up in the past and will continue to do so in the future. You took bribes last year and will ask for even more next year! You’ve been taking what isn’t yours! Apart from changing the year in your signature, what will change in your character this new year?
In 2024, you harmed others and took what wasn’t yours. In 2025, you’ll harm others and take what’s theirs again! What’s the difference between the old year and the new year for you? You won’t change! So, what good is changing the year? At least your life is short by one more year! Welcome to the new year!
I pray that in the new year, you can continue with your mischievous plots, and complain about your coworkers to the boss! I’m not a good person today, so Allah doesn’t hear all my prayers! If He did, the false accusations and slanders you made would have buried you, leaving you homeless and begging! I pray that your/my character will change in the future! Otherwise, no calendar year will matter much for you, whether it’s ’25 or ’75!
An opportunity has come—let’s change little by little. We can do good for others, offer sincere advice. If we don’t read books, or follow our faith, our hearts will remain in the dark. If we focus on harming others, our fortunes won’t change. If we can bring little bits of light into the world over time, then this life will be meaningful! At least let’s try—surely, God will assist us.
