Love survives in the daily search

Do you talk to your parents every day? Do you check in on them regularly? Among the many regrets, not being able to talk to your parents will be the biggest. Let’s not let our busy lives take away these gems from us!

Their numbers might be saved in your phone, but the calls have stopped coming! They are no longer here, yet you can’t bring yourself to delete their numbers from your phonebook! Ask those who have lost their fathers or mothers, or both, about the unbearable pain. No one is as unfortunate as those deprived of the garden of blessings!

No matter how busy you are, talk to them at least once a day. Say two extra words. Try to understand what they need, what they want! Even if they say they don’t need anything, still check in on them morning and evening. Even if they get annoyed by your calls, keep talking. Parents came to this world only to give to their children. Your Lord’s satisfaction is not more than your parents’ satisfaction! Take care of them before you lose them, before you cry!

Soon, our generation will lose the right to call out ‘Mom’ and ‘Dad’. Can you imagine how heart-wrenching those days will be? It’s almost as if we can feel it coming. Yet, today, we don’t even take the time to check on our parents! Instead, even in their old age, they’re the ones who worry about us. We, with our busy excuses, break their hearts and crush their hopes. Yet, whatever important work we do is recorded above.

Nature will one day return all this solitude, this inability to speak, with a vengeance. And it won’t be a form of retribution or revenge. There’s no equivalent for not talking, for not checking in. There never will be. Fathers, understand. Mothers, look for them. You’ll find them at their prayer mats, waiting just for you.

These are the same parents who would worry endlessly if they couldn’t reach you after a few calls. How can you do this? How can you live like this? If you stayed out past dusk, your father would go crazy with worry. Yet, we?
