
Today is the first day of Bhadra month. The season of beauty is the first day of autumn. This season of whiteness has again appeared at the door of Bengalis. Autumn always symbolizes whiteness. This season is full of white cashew flowers, shrill flowers, soft asterisms, play of light. No other season has a dark blue sky like autumn.
Autumn is the third season of the seasonal cycle consisting of the months of Bhadra and Ashwin. But according to the Christian calendar, autumn lasts from mid-August to mid-October.
The beauty of autumn is an integral part of the nature of Abhaman Bengal. In the pages of stories, poems, novels, poets and writers have highlighted autumn as the food of their creation. How many poets and writers fell in love with the form of autumn and wrote literature about this season, it is not counted.
Poet Rabindranath Tagore also enriched and perfumed Bengali literature by composing many poems and songs about autumn. He says, ‘Autumn is your Arun Aloha Anjali/ Spread out the charming fingers. Autumn in thy dew-washed kuntle/forested region. Today the heart of Prabhat is excited.
Mahakabi Kalidasa was also a pioneer in Sarat Vandana. He said, “My dear, look at that, like a bride, the autumn season has gathered.”
In the past, cultural workers used to hold various programs in cultural areas including Dhaka University’s Faculty of Fine Arts and Rabindra Sarovar in Dhanmondi during autumn. But gradually its custom is decreasing. The close relationship of man with nature should be returned again. Festivals that are associated with nature and soil, that culture; It unites a nation.
