“What kind of man are you, don’t take bribes?”

Arshad Khan

Drama is drama. Still I was thinking about that helpless husband.

I was watching Eid drama on television channel. Lately, the trend has been that Eid drama means that there must be laughs in any way. Laughter is not a bad thing. Many of us face turbulent times in our personal lives. That’s why I can’t laugh easily. In such situations, when we watch dramas and movies, we unconsciously seek solace. I want to laugh heartily. In this case, the role of laughter plays a lot.

The question is, how is the play of laughter? Unknowingly you started to laugh as you saw an incident. Such plays are not only entertaining but also bring peace to the mind. The mind becomes better. Lately, in most of the cases, I have seen a vain attempt to make people laugh with comedy dramas. Obscene gestures, indecent dialogues, inaudible profanity, the drama continues to be called a ‘laughter drama’. The audience “eats” such plays. Surprise! Watching has become a matter of ‘eating’ for some!

Every Eid, more than two hundred dramas and telefilms are aired on different television channels of the country. Among these, good plays somehow come up in the discussion. I saw such a drama, the story of a middle class family. The only son in a family of 4 is a low paid jobber. Husband’s income is not the choice of ambitious wife. Work-weary husband said to his wife the market bag, is, which is hot! Have a glass of water. Taking the market bag in hand, the wife asked, have you brought my soap-shampoo-body lotion? Helpless Surrender of Husband – End of Month If you get salary next month… Immediately the wife shouted – I have to wait till next month for a little soap-shampoo-body lotion? Marrying you was a mistake. Mr. Arshad of the house next door works like you. They bought a new car last week. Gifted his wife with new gold jewellery. Stay away from gold jewelry, did you gift me imitation jewelry?

Husband’s helpless surrender again – don’t compare me with Arshad Sahib. He takes bribes; I don’t take bribes.

Now the wife expressed extreme annoyance and said, why don’t you take a bribe? Everyone takes bribes. What is wrong with your food? Why don’t you talk? Speak… what kind of man are you, don’t take bribes?

Drama is drama. Still I was thinking about that helpless husband. Immediately, the royal face of the newly ex-revenue officer Matiur Rahman appeared in front of the eyes. He also built a mountain of illegal wealth to meet the unusual needs of family members? However, sin does not leave the Father. In this case, the son did not leave the father. Poor Matiur Rahman is suffering ever since his son’s ‘goat incident’.

Matiur, to whom money is like a bay leaf, gave the child a lot of money, abundance without asking. He bought a goat for sacrifice for 15 lakhs. The child did not even think about the source of the money to buy such an expensive goat. He also published his picture with the goat on social media. Wanted to explain to friends and relatives – look, how rich we are! Before this, anyone else in this country has been able to show such ‘achievement’?

A story came to mind. A young man went to buy a horse. The owner of the horse wanted to know, baby, whose money will you buy a horse? Son said with pride, father’s money. The owner of the horse said, then you can buy the horse. The owner of the horse asked for the price. The boy proudly paid the price and left with the horse. After a few years, the boy again went to buy a horse. He could not decide to buy a horse even after visiting the market. Suddenly meeting the owner of that horse from the past. The owner of the horse asked to know, baby, whose money will you buy the horse now? The son said, with his own money. The owner of the horse thought and said, I understand, that’s why you are moving around so much. I don’t think you can buy horses.

Matiur Rahman’s son might have thought twice to spend 15 lakhs for a goat if he went to the Qorbani market with his own earnings. Even if he went to buy a goat with his father’s honest earnings, he might have thought. He knows that his father has a lot of money. He also knows how father earns money. His corrupt father is his idol. In order to show the influence and prestige of the father, he also published his picture on social media with a goat worth 15 lakh taka. Alas! Had this ‘goat incident’ not happened, the corruption and misdeeds of former revenue officer Matiur Rahman would never have been found.

Matiur Rahman staged a play to save himself from his son’s goat scandal. He gave a statement denying his son. What a terrible thing! What is the name of the father if you live alone?

At the beginning of the article I presented the story of the television drama. The wife is encouraging the husband to become corrupt and bribe-taking. That doesn’t mean all wives are like that. But one question remains, even after knowing about the illegal source of income of the earning person of the family, the family members do not tell him anything. Rather proud of him. They should understand that not all days are equal. Did Matiur ever think that he would be involved in an incident like the goat incident? The powerful former IGP Benazir Ahmed has ever thought of today’s outcome?

In the world, the wife who tries to tell her husband by gestures – what a man you are, don’t take bribes; I think it’s time for them to moderate.
