What a good person can teach you throughout life, a bad one can make you learn in just a few moments. Yet, always pray for the company of good-hearted people. Being around someone with a pure heart will bring peace to your mind, open doors to success, and teach you the value of generosity. If you are fortunate to meet even a few genuinely good people in your lifetime, consider it a blessing. Pray that you find yourself in the right environment among the right people.
Seek the companionship of those with a clear and thoughtful mind. To change your life’s course, you must be enlightened by those who radiate wisdom. Whether you meet good or bad people, learn the virtues of the good and the opposite of the bad. Follow those who are pure in thought, refined in speech, and graceful in conduct. Expanding your perspective is essential—what you believe to be true may not always be so. Question, explore, and don’t confine yourself within a narrow outlook. The world is vast, and even if you haven’t yet discovered its beauty, many have.
Live wisely. Sometimes, pretending not to understand certain things will serve you well. Even if something is beyond your control, be assured that life has its way of balancing things. Whether you have been deceived or have deceived others, whether you have struggled or helped others struggle—it is through your actions that people will judge your character. The way others perceive you is a reflection of what you have given them. Ensure that no one’s rightful share remains withheld by you. In this world of self-interest, people are rarely naïve; most are more aware than they let on. Assuming that no one notices or understands is a fool’s mistake.
Earn a place in people’s hearts through kindness. Honour your family name and pave the way for your children’s journey. Do not live in such a reckless way that you end up losing your well-wishers and allies. No one is perfect, but we all have the ability to improve ourselves, to become better. It takes courage to change for the good, to let go of greed, and to understand the perspectives of others. In the race to become a better human, keep moving forward with resilience. Let people say, even in your absence, “That person was truly good.” If you don’t earn this kind of respect, what are you truly earning in life?
A person eventually becomes a reflection of their surroundings, their thoughts, and the people they associate with. However, with determination and integrity, even the strongest storms or toughest challenges cannot break you. Temptations will come, opportunities will arise—yet, through it all, you must remain human. You must hold on to values that make others recognize your integrity. If you lack that within you, no one else can inject it into you. Ethics cannot be administered like an injection—it must shine from within and be nurtured through wisdom.
Perhaps this is why some are truly fortunate, while others are not.
