If you work, recognition, awards, or financial rewards will come. Mehedi Hasan Khan was awarded the Ekushey Padak but refused to accept it alone. Why? Because from the very beginning, three of his friends worked alongside him for Avro. Mehedi Hasan never demanded that his friends also receive the award. He simply stated that he was unable to accept the award as the sole creator of Avro, as he did not develop the platform alone.
The government later decided to award the three friends alongside Mehedi Hasan. But which award do these friends consider the greatest? The Ekushey Padak? No, absolutely not. Not even once. For them, having a friend like Mehedi Hasan is the greatest achievement of a lifetime—a priceless honor. There is no greater award than this. Nothing compares.
In a culture where people often take sole credit while disregarding the contributions of others, Mehedi Hasan Khan is a rare exception. This is how friendship achieves greatness. He could have accepted the award alone, taken all the praise, and no one would have stopped him. But he chose not to be selfish! He did not forget the contributors who helped make this Bengali writing platform accessible to Bengalis worldwide. This gratitude makes him truly remarkable, and future generations will recognize his greatness. Such friendships will always be exemplary.
Special thanks to the government for awarding the honor jointly. The considerations made in presenting this award will have a significant impact on the nation’s progress. A new Bangladesh is emerging. This recognition, beyond political biases, has earned praise for the Ministry of Culture. A culture of recognizing contributions will encourage the birth of new Mehedi Hasans.
This is the Bangladesh we always dreamed of—where friendship is valued above all.
Salute to the creators of Avro.
Thanks to the government for recognizing talent.
Let the Bengali language be open to all.
