Winter Celebration 2025: A Heartwarming Reunion in the Canadian Cold

Despite the biting cold gripping Canada, warmth and nostalgia filled the air as members of the SSC98_HSC2000_Canada_Chapter came together for “Winter Celebration 2025” in Toronto. The event, held at a well-known condominium party room in the city’s Bangladeshi neighborhood, brought together nearly 80 attendees, including families and children, for an evening of cultural festivities, traditional pitha, and heartfelt camaraderie.

The celebration, which ran from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, aimed to strengthen connections among old friends while reminiscing about cherished traditions from Bangladesh. The evening commenced with an introduction session, followed by an engaging children’s segment featuring songs, dance performances, and musical acts that set the stage for the night’s vibrant festivities.

A Taste of Home: Pitha and Cultural Show

A key highlight of the evening was the pitha festival, designed to evoke childhood memories of winter mornings in Bangladesh. Guests indulged in bhapa pitha and chitai pitha served with two types of mashed accompaniments, alongside pizza for the younger attendees. As the aroma of steaming pitha filled the room, the event transitioned into a cultural extravaganza, meticulously rehearsed and planned over four days. The setup, complete with a sound system provided by Afzal and decorations coordinated by a dedicated team, enhanced the festive atmosphere.

The cultural performances, hosted by the lively Suruchi, kept the audience captivated. A group rendition of “Aage Ki Sundor Din Kataitam”, led by Bakhtiar Bhai, Adnan Rana, Faiz, and Pulak, set a nostalgic tone, followed by musical solos, duets, and dance performances. Standout performances included:

  • Bornali’s rendition of “Bhalobeshe Sokhi”
  • Adnan Rana’s powerful performance of “Shukher Ei Prithibi”
  • A duet by Adnan Rana and Tondra, “Ekhon To Shomoy Bhalobashar”
  • Energetic group dances by Lisa, Pipli, and other performers

A Stunning Fashion Show & Power-Packed Dance Performances

One of the most anticipated segments of the night was the fashion show, where participants combined music and dance to showcase their talent. Highlights included:

  • Avi & Caesar’s performance to “Punjabiwala”
  • Farzana & Rini’s dance to “Akash-e Batash-e”
  • Adnan Rana & Suruchi’s performance of “Baburam Shapure”
  • Rini & Tondra dazzling the audience with “Desi Girl”
  • The grand finale by Rini & Pulak, dancing to “Vallage”

The performances were met with enthusiastic applause, turning the event into a night to remember.

A Traditional Bengali Feast & Emotional Farewell

As the evening progressed, guests enjoyed a traditional Bangladeshi dinner featuring chicken and beef curry, tuna kebabs, chana dal, and gulab jamun. The celebration continued with Tondra’s performance of “Dushtu Kokil” and a lively duet, “Amar Gorur Gari,” by Bakhtiar Bhai and Tondra, which had everyone dancing.

As the clock neared 10:30 PM, it was time to bid farewell. The organizers took a moment to express gratitude to all attendees, while a minute of silence was observed in memory of Tanmoy’s late father and other departed loved ones.

The event concluded with a promise to reunite again, leaving everyone with a sense of warmth, belonging, and the joy of celebrating Bangladeshi traditions in the heart of Toronto.
