Standing at this time, I cannot evaluate this time. I cannot comment on the past either. The wall of thoughts about the future is also limited to the threshold of the mind! Who will come to power in the near future, and who will come to power in the distant future – I have to keep that in mind when speaking. If they come to power and see me! This nation has not been freed from the hidden and open threat of ‘seeing you’. No one has yet made a definite promise whether it will be met or not. Some people have really seen me in the past and have threatened to see me in the future too. Since we are under the control of those who have the power to see me, we have to speak carefully. I cannot bring everything to my mouth. The consequences of seeing me are extraordinary! Even if the person who said he would see me forgets it, the person who is next to me, the person who sits close to me or the person who knows me, sees me exactly as soon as the chair of power changes hands. Sometimes by taking my life, sometimes by serving a prison sentence and fine, sometimes by causing bodily harm or sometimes by forcing me to flee – such seeing brings about the beneficial implementation of the action. Sometimes you have to be fired for looking at someone, sometimes you lose sleep due to mental unrest. In Bengali politics, this looking at someone has to be calculated and used to talk. Those who speak and write, their words go against someone or the other. Those who go against them, they hang a sword to see them. Again, those who go for them also go against the power at some point. The people are torn apart in the middle. So, you have to speak measuredly. You have to step in quietly. Even if you have a picture with someone, it is politics!
Has this frightening situation created by the political parties benefited them? Have they remained at ease? Showing absolute power while in power and running away like thieves after losing power is the result of this looking at someone. The government elected by the people’s vote will work for the welfare of the country and the people. If the people are satisfied with their work and behavior, they will vote for them again. If they are dissatisfied, they will force them to return to the people’s door without voting. However, staying in power by force, not keeping in touch with the public, trying to suppress dissent through attacks and lawsuits – these have not set good precedents anywhere in the civilized history of the world. When anger towards someone is low, the reaction is also simple. But if anger and resentment are like mountains, then the sound of collapse reaches even the underworld. The inability to tolerate criticism increases the compensation of those in power. If someone criticizes or condemns a little, says a few words against him, or if a few thousand people protest against a decision, it does not take away power. However, if there is no tolerance for dissent or anyone different for a long time, if no one is tolerated, if steps are taken to stop the opposing ideology by attacking and suing, that is what brings disaster. Those who show the right path, those who point out mistakes, or those who protest injustice are friends of the path of popularity. However, we consider them enemies and make our own path ‘friends’. This path of generosity and tolerance has been continuous throughout the history of independent Bangladesh. The elected governments of ’91 and ’96 did a relatively good job of running the country. Again, they were the ones who sacrificed the ideals and became blinded by the lust for power. During the remaining time, the tendency to cling to power was felt acutely and compensation had to be paid in a terribly bad way; sometimes by giving up their lives, sometimes by losing their honor and sometimes by giving away their wealth. Therefore, the debate on the duration of the rule (of the government and the head of the government), the difference between the head of the government and the party leader – this debate needs to be resolved. So that the interim government can complete this reform.
People’s sympathy for the oppressed is very active. Public opinion stands on the side of the oppressed. No one can stand at this time and act in a liberal and responsible mood for the present, cannot speak – because of this, he will be looked at later, this attitude manifests violence. This is not the character of the ruler but of the oppressor. If one is forced to instill in their heads who will come to power tomorrow, who will have the day the day after tomorrow? – the liberation of this nation is impossible. Both power and the people should learn from the history of ’54 years of rule and oppression, the history of long-term power and decline. In politics that is for the people, politics that is for the land and people, politics that is for the country and the world, there should be no question of vindictiveness. The picture of recent Bangladesh has seen that the organs of the functioning of the state have gone into hibernation while some have become overly active, looking towards future power. This should not be the behavior of a responsible person. Past history shows that here, rewards and punishments depend not on impartial work but on blind partisanship or anti-partisanship. The state’s bureaucrats, police, teachers, and judges become the pawns of the party, not the state. The common people are also nakedly merging the party-government-state. When political parties become the government and misuse the entire state machinery to propagate their own one-sided ideology from within the government, there is no way to differentiate.
The students of the anti-discrimination movement have entrusted the interim government with the great responsibility of reform and should be given time, opportunity, and support by the political parties to fully implement it. Another party may form the government according to the traditional rules by organizing elections in a hurry, but the corruption in the state will not go away at all. In this case, that government will also be forced to be overthrown or fall after a few years with the label of dictatorship. Greed for power, greed for money destroys the conscience of the ruler. By ruler, I do not mean only the top leaders of the party, the high command, those who will go to parliament or those who will become district and upazila leaders, but a union worker, a village supporter – he must also be brought into the system. Is it only because of the behavior of big leaders that people are disgusted and opposed to a party? It is very similar. When you actually meet the public, the general public is like that – their behavior brings the party into disrepute. Extortion is definitely not being collected from a union-level haat on the orders of a top leader of a party! Therefore, we need a comprehensive purge. This can only be possible by formulating a systematic system. Instead of pressuring for quick elections, it is necessary to advise the interim government and get this reform done from the side. The youth no longer want to see this Bangladesh run in the way that it was running in Bangladesh in 1954. The students and people of the country did not sacrifice their lives and limbs just for the right to vote. Let the political parties help the citizens fulfill their dreams. We have all the resources to become Singapore-Switzerland. We just need a little patience and a good method. Think about whether that trust can be placed on the Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus Sarkar.
“My golden Bengal, I love you” – a lie. Even if millions of people like me foam at the mouth while singing this line of the national anthem, the state does not benefit much. But those who have smuggled the backbone of this country abroad, made agreements against the country’s interests, and turned the country into a paradise for looters – we must awaken the feeling of love for the country and patriotism in their minds. If they are not forced to understand by being explained, then we must use force to stop them from doing destructive things. They must be punished – if necessary, hanged. The interests of the country are greater than all others. It is a nightmare that any vulture will look at this country and accept that a drop of blood will remain on the body of any patriot. The awakening of the soldiers and the people has happened suddenly, I heard about it in 1990 and saw it in 2024. Those who are conspiring against the country should be careful. They will give an answer to every propaganda for the country. Those who are conspiring in different countries about Bangladesh should also be careful. What will you do to suppress those who give their lives with a smile to achieve their demands, those who are at the forefront and shed their blood with bullets and bayonets to save the country? What weapons do you have? You will fail to stop the tide of the people. If you can, come and correct yourself. So, past rulers and future rulers – be careful. If you want to become the owner of the state by becoming a guardian, the people will drag you down by the legs – there are many examples before us. So, the threat of looking at someone makes you even more unpopular – the sooner you can understand this, the better it will be for you. Stop the threats and spread love for the country and its people. Believe in the patriotism you speak in words and implement it. This will benefit everyone, regardless of race, religion, or color. Your/my welfare will come first.
